Is the migration really free?
Yes. When we design and build your new Proxmox private cloud, the migration work - assessment, planning, VM conversion, testing and cutover - is included at no charge. You only pay for the new platform itself (hardware or hosting) and any optional ongoing support plan. No hidden fees, and you see every number before we start.
How much downtime should we expect?
Very little. We migrate VM by VM in maintenance windows you approve. Typical per-VM downtime is minutes during the final cutover. Critical systems get extra care: pre-synced disks, rehearsed cutovers and instant rollback plans.
What replaces vMotion, HA and DRS?
Proxmox has native equivalents: live migration moves running VMs between hosts with zero downtime, the built-in HA manager restarts VMs automatically on node failure, and the cluster resource scheduler balances workloads. Day-to-day operations feel familiar very quickly.
Can we reuse our existing servers?
Usually, yes. ESXi hosts are standard x86 servers, and Proxmox runs on the same hardware. We typically do a rolling migration: free up one host, reinstall it with Proxmox, move VMs over, repeat. We will tell you honestly if your hardware is too old to be worth keeping.
How long does a migration take?
A typical environment of 10 to 50 VMs is fully migrated in 2 to 4 weeks, including cluster build, testing and cutover. Larger or more complex environments get a phased plan with clear milestones.
What about Windows VMs and licensing?
Windows VMs migrate fine - we handle driver injection (VirtIO), activation and validation as part of the process. Your Windows, database and application licenses move with your VMs; only the VMware licensing disappears.
